Ingredients
Ingredients
-
1 oz vodka
-
1 oz Kahlúa or other coffee liqueur
-
2 oz heavy cream
-
1 tablespoon chocolate syrup
-
Shaved chocolate or cocoa powder (for garnish)
-
Ice
Optional Add-ins:
-
½ oz chocolate liqueur (for extra richness)
-
Pinch of sea salt (for balance)
-
Splash of milk (to lighten the cream)
Instructions
Step 1: Rim or swirl with chocolate
Drizzle a small amount of chocolate syrup inside a short rocks glass. Swirl it around to create a decorative chocolate ribbon inside the glass. If you prefer, dip the rim in chocolate syrup and roll it in shaved chocolate or cocoa powder for extra flair.
Step 2: Add ice and spirits
Fill the glass halfway with ice. Pour in 1 oz vodka and 1 oz Kahlúa or your preferred coffee liqueur.
Step 3: Mix cream and chocolate
In a small cup or shaker, stir or shake 2 oz heavy cream with 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup until smooth and uniform.
Step 4: Pour cream over spirits
Slowly pour the cream mixture over the vodka and Kahlúa in the glass. For a layered look, pour gently over the back of a spoon.
Step 5: Garnish
Top with shaved chocolate or a light dusting of cocoa powder. Optionally, sprinkle a pinch of sea salt or add a chocolate truffle on a cocktail pick for presentation.
Step 6: Stir and enjoy
Serve with a stir stick or leave it layered for presentation. Stir before sipping to enjoy the full depth of flavor.
Notes
-
Use high-quality chocolate syrup for the richest flavor—homemade syrup works beautifully.
-
For an extra silky texture, use half-and-half or combine cream and milk.
-
Chill all ingredients for a smoother drink—no need to shake over ice.
-
Layering works best when the cream is poured slowly and carefully over a spoon.
-
Use clear glassware to show off the color contrast between the cream and the liqueur base.
