Chocolate Truffle White Russian Recipe

  • Author: Clara
  • Total Time: 5 min

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 1 oz vodka

  • 1 oz Kahlúa or other coffee liqueur

  • 2 oz heavy cream

  • 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup

  • Shaved chocolate or cocoa powder (for garnish)

  • Ice

Optional Add-ins:

  • ½ oz chocolate liqueur (for extra richness)

  • Pinch of sea salt (for balance)

  • Splash of milk (to lighten the cream)

Instructions

Preparation Prepare the glass

Step 1: Rim or swirl with chocolate
Drizzle a small amount of chocolate syrup inside a short rocks glass. Swirl it around to create a decorative chocolate ribbon inside the glass. If you prefer, dip the rim in chocolate syrup and roll it in shaved chocolate or cocoa powder for extra flair.

Mix the base

Step 2: Add ice and spirits
Fill the glass halfway with ice. Pour in 1 oz vodka and 1 oz Kahlúa or your preferred coffee liqueur.

Add the cream

Step 3: Mix cream and chocolate
In a small cup or shaker, stir or shake 2 oz heavy cream with 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup until smooth and uniform.
Step 4: Pour cream over spirits
Slowly pour the cream mixture over the vodka and Kahlúa in the glass. For a layered look, pour gently over the back of a spoon.

Finish and garnish

Step 5: Garnish
Top with shaved chocolate or a light dusting of cocoa powder. Optionally, sprinkle a pinch of sea salt or add a chocolate truffle on a cocktail pick for presentation.

Step 6: Stir and enjoy
Serve with a stir stick or leave it layered for presentation. Stir before sipping to enjoy the full depth of flavor.

Notes

  • Use high-quality chocolate syrup for the richest flavor—homemade syrup works beautifully.

  • For an extra silky texture, use half-and-half or combine cream and milk.

  • Chill all ingredients for a smoother drink—no need to shake over ice.

  • Layering works best when the cream is poured slowly and carefully over a spoon.

  • Use clear glassware to show off the color contrast between the cream and the liqueur base.
